[ Around eight thirty, a heavyset fellow with shaggy hair and whatever the opposite of a tan is meanders his way near the stage. He takes a seat nearby and listens attentively, unconsciously tapping his claws against his knee to the beat.]
[ Larry's music is the real stuff and it's just...so nice to hear it after The Everything. ]
[ He waits for a lul in the music or for Larry to stop naturally before clearing his throat and giving him a rehearsed greeting. ]
[ He'd gone through a good set and wants to rest his fingers and take a drink, so he slings the guitar off his shoulder and sets it against the chair, standing.
He smiles and motions Maurice over. ]
Hey, man, nice to meet you in person! I'm Larry.
[ Obviously, but he figures it's good to actually make himself known properly. He sticks out his hand to shake. ]
[ Maurice gives Larry a little nod and takes his hand. His grip is chilly but firm. He really means that handshake. He's a bit more confident here than he normally would be, but just knowing Larry is a musician closes that gap he always teeters on the edge of. ]
Hey, Larry. That sounds great. Have you seen those fish?
[ By now Larry isn't surprised by the variety of people he meets, so Maurice's preternaturally chilly hand doesn't faze him. And his enthusiasm is infectious. ]
Yeah, they're really cool. I love this place, much better atmosphere than any bar I ever hung out at in New York or LA.
[ He leads the way to the bar and orders a lager. Then he nods to Maurice and steps aside slightly so he can order. ]
Right? I've never been in a place as nice as this!
[ The Pit Bull had been a special place to him, his first real haunt. But this place blows it out of the water. It's so close to the castle and he doesn't need money! It's basically the best. ]
[ He orders a local drink called a centaur's kick. ]
[ Maurice's brows drift upward at this news. Come back? Like a video game? Or Pet Semetary? He dreads the answer, but he asks it before he even realizes his mouth is open. ]
Oh, really? There do seem to be a lot of vampires here.
[ Maurice had obviously had something different about him but Larry hadn't wanted to go off making assumptions. ]
It's weird, there seem to be several different ways the vampires here were made into vampires. And different standards for what kind of blood they'll take.
That's what Spike said. I haven't talked to them yet...
[ He's honestly been trying to be Very Normal since he showed up thanks to the kitchen supplying him with what he needs. But he is curious to meet them. And nervous. ]
I didn't know there was more than one kind of vampire before I came here. I didn't even know there were vampires until, like, this June. Real ones, I mean.
I didn't know there were real ones until I got here, myself.
[ He pauses, and takes a sip of his beer. ]
There's one, Diana? I don't know if you've met her, guess not, though. But she doesn't trust the kitchen's supply and I ended up volunteering to, ah...
[ To feed her, he means, but he can't quite spit that out, it seems. ]
[ A concerned frown tugs at the corners of his mouth. Nothing bad's happened to him so far. Then again, nothing bad had happened to him when he'd been feeding fof cattle until Charlie poisoned him. There just hasn't been enough time for him to tell. ]
[ He is not sure he can feed off of a person who will see him again the following day. ]

Wanna grab a drink? I'm gonna take five here.

How long have you been here, Larry?
no subject
'Bout a month. It's been a wild ride, being here, let me tell you. Did anyone tell you that a couple months ago a dragon attacked the castle?
no subject
Oh shit, a real dragon?
[ He realizes, belatedly, that's kind of a given considering where they are. ]
Was anybody killed?
[ It comes out a little more excitedly than he means for it to. He's not happy anyone's hurt, but a real actual dragon attack! Wow!]

[ Maurice's enthusiasm is a little unexpected but a little amusing, too. ]
From what I understand you don't die here. Or rather, you come back.
no subject
In a good way or a bad way?
no subject
[ He pauses, then shrugs. ]
Well, I don't know. What would you consider good or bad?
no subject
no subject
[ He shrugs. ]
At least, that's what I've picked up.

[ His drink arrives and he accepts it gratefully. ]

Oh, uh...glad that worked out for her. For yall.

[ There are more details to it, but he assumes that would be Diana's business to share. ]
What about you, you doing okay with what's in the kitchens?
no subject
[ He can feel the familiar fuzzy sensation creep along the sides of his head as the centaur's kick does its job. ]
I really don't wanna bite people again...
no subject
Just generally?
no subject
Well yeah. It's gross and in my experience, folks don't like being bitten.
no subject
no subject
None of the vampires I know back home want to bite people...at least I don't think so.
[ He can't be sure about Raven. ]
no subject
I'm glad you're thoughtful like that about it. As well as your friends.
no subject
Ah, yeah...I'm not cut out to be a vampire.
