It's a big story and it doesn't just include me. It involves my whole planet, Gaia, and a lot of my friends. Before I was born, Gaia was approached by a threatening force named Meteor. My ancestors fought against it and they were nearly driven into extinction by an alien entity called Jenova. She traveled on Meteor to take over Gaia - as she had done to other planets, I suspect.
No, our lifespans are like a regular human's. It has been several thousand years. In that time, the Ancients - or Cetras - have slowly dwindled in numbers. Jenova infected us with a virus.
It is magic. It requires hearing the planet, understanding her voice, and being able to speak back.
There was a man named Cloud Strife - he is a super-powered Soldier and definitely a hero. Before him, there was another super-powered Soldier named Zack Fair. Both spent time with me. Both helped me.
Then there was a woman named Tifa Lockhart. She is an old friend of Cloud's and quite a fighter herself.
Besides them, there was a big muscular man named Barret Wallace, a small woman named Yuffie Kisaragi, a big cat named Red XIII, Cait Sith, who is difficult to explain, a pilot named Cid Highwind and an ex-Turk named Vincent Valentine. Turks work for Shinra - the company that wants to harness the power of the Lifestream for their own experiments.
As for how we succeeded...
Cloud faced Sephiroth... I died... They worked, fighting on the planet (for the planet), supporting one another, and I used the Lifestream to push Meteor back.
We were lucky. No, blessed. Gaia intended for us to work together.
Cloud...and I. We have to stay at our stations to keep Sephiroth - Jenova's child, you could say - at bay. I pushed Meteor back with the Lifestream, but she's very stubborn.
